Travel Advisory – Major Northeast Winter Storm
U.S. winter storms are expected to impact travel.
Another major winter storm is severely impacting travel across parts of the U.S. today. The storm is expected to essentially halt travel on Monday, February 23, with impacts likely to last several days as aircraft and crews reposition.
As of this morning, the following cancellations have been reported:
- 5,500+ flights canceled—primarily in the northeast
- 500+ cancellations each at John F. Kennedy International (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA) airports
- 400+ cancellations at Boston Logan International (BOS) and Newark Liberty International (EWR) airports
- 300+ cancellations at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
- Nearly 200 cancellations at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
- Nearly 80 cancellations at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
Disruptions are expected to continue Tuesday, with roughly 40 percent of flights canceled at JFK, LGA, and BOS. Operational impacts are also affecting other regions as aircraft and crews remain stranded in the northeast.
