Strategic Procurement is a department within UCSF Supply Chain Management.
What we do
The SCM Strategic Procurement team, made up of buyers and procurement/sourcing analysts, supports University purchases of goods and services ensuring sourcing, pricing and risk are handled in accord with University of California (UC) policy.
The Procurement staff is composed of buyers and strategic sourcing analysts. They:
- Contract, negotiate and assist customers with purchases over $100,000 (or with purchases that require specific policy review)
- Are individually assigned to specific UCSF departments
- Help to create a request for proposal (RFP) and identify qualified suppliers
- Actively negotiate contracts or purchase agreements
- As needed, provide procurement consultation and planning
- Are well-versed in UC policy
- Provide commodity management
