Logistics Helps with Health Love Letter

UCSF Health’s Marketing Department needed an urgent storage solution for a unique piece of art and turned to Supply Chain Management (SCM) Logistics for help.

This summer, UCSF Health commissioned a 24-foot by 16-foot free-standing mural by artist Maxfield Bala. The piece entitled, To San Francisco, With Love was constructed at the corner of Octavia and Hayes in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.

The purpose of the campaign was reshaping how people in the community think about UCSF Health as it embarks in a strategic shift with a greater expansion into primary and secondary care for San Franciscans with the recent acquisitions of Saint Francis and St. Mary’s hospitals and other clinics from Dignity Health.

The Hayes Valley location was only intended as a temporary home for the art piece. The long-term plan is to relocate the mural to a new home on the UCSF campus once a location is secured. At the end of summer, Julie Hanlon, UCSF Health Associate Director of Marketing, connected with Charles Sabia, Operations Manager for SCM Logistics. Within a week, the beautiful art piece was deconstructed and placed into storage for safe keeping in the Logistics warehouse at Oyster Point in South San Francisco.

"Logistics was such a pleasure to work with. Fast and so accommodating."    Julie Hanlon, UCSF Health Associate Director of Marketing

Logistics is proud to store UCSF Health’s ‘Love Letter’ and support its operations as it expands its reach further into community care. Logistics currently stores information technology equipment that will be used to support UCSF Health’s Berkeley Outpatient Center and the new outpatient center in Burlingame. Additionally, Charles recently trained UCSF Health officials at four former Dignity Health medical clinics on ordering medical gases from SCM-Logistics online warehouse.
