Overview

Information about Logistics' Free and Trackable Package Delivery Service

Logistics receives hundreds of packages daily at Oyster Point facility from the commonly used suppliers, e.g., Fisher, ODP, VWR, and Blaisdell’s Business Products, as well as carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.

Packages delivered before 8 a.m. will be delivered to the department the same afternoon. All deliveries are verified with photographic proof of delivery. Proof of delivery assures that the package is received at its destination safely and securely.

Track a package

All UCSF Campus and Medical Center MyAccess users have access to our UCSF Logistics package-tracking tool for:

  • BearBuy Purchases
  • Medical Center OfficeMax Purchases
  • USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Shipments

How to track:

  • Navigate to UCSF Logistics Utility (MyAccess required)
  • Select "Delivery Tracking”
  • A small sub-menu will appear
  • Select the appropriate method (e.g. - select BearBuy to search via a BearBuy Order Number)
  • An input field will appear – enter the appropriate information
  • Select “View Report"
  • A successful delivery will display photo proof of delivery for your package
  • If your package hasn’t arrived at our facility – you will receive the message “Parcel has not been received at Oyster Point for Last-Mile Delivery”

Please note that packages delivered directly (outside of the Package Delivery Program) by couriers, FedEx, and UPS must be tracked by the carrier's own website tools.

Best practices

Logistics is your UCSF partner and has provided package delivery since 2010. We understand the landscape of the UCSF campuses. Many buildings share the same campus address and, within those buildings, there are matching room numbers. By having UCSF Logistics deliver PDP packages, we will know the location code you’ve selected in the BearBuy PO for the delivery location. We know the importance of your delivery and may attempt couple of deliveries on the same day. Outside couriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, OnTrac) will make one attempt the first day, one attempt the second day and then return the package to the shipper upon the third delivery attempt. These carriers have also been known to leave packages in the hallway and designate the package as delivered.

Benefits of using PDP include:

  • Safety and security of UCSF community as SCM Logistics staff is familiar with the landscape of UCSF campuses and have badge access to most areas
  • With department granted door access (non-alarmed), we can deliver to your department when you are not in the office—no more missed deliveries!
  • Ordering departments’ ability to track the packages and see photographic proof of delivery via SCM Logistics site
  • Reduction of carbon emission
  • Truck mitigation on UCSF campuses and neighborhoods, as embedded in the UCSF Long Range Development Plan (LRDP)

Preferred vendor fulfillment

Most orders placed in BearBuy with Fisher, VWR, OfficeDepot/OfficeMax, and Blaisdell’s Office Products, by 5 p.m. weekdays are delivered to Oyster Point the next morning and delivered to you same day. Of course, you may experience a delay should the vendor be out of stock. However, once the order is filled and delivered to Oyster Point by 8am, the package will be processed and delivered the same day.

Should you absolutely need your package in an expedited manner and/or for refrigerated/frozen items, please work with your vendor for direct shipment to you. However, non-urgent packages (any shipment that does not require next day receipt prior to 2 p.m.) should be routed through Logistics at Oyster Point for the same-day delivery to your department.

Bearbuy orders from non-preferred vendors

When making BearBuy purchases from Non-Preferred Vendors, customers who select their standard ship to locations will generally have those packages delivered directly by external carriers (ie FedEx, UPS).  SCM has created corresponding “XD” ship to location codes to enable BearBuy users to have packages delivered through Oyster Point and benefit from the same level of service provided when receiving orders from preferred vendors. “XD” ship to codes are only widely available on the Parnassus campus at this time but SCM is in process of expanding this program campus wide.  If available, BearBuy users are encouraged to make their “XD” ship to code their default shipping address.

Non-BearBuy deliveries

PDP was originally intended for use strictly for BearBuy purchases. However, many customers today are having difficulty with outside carriers who have access issues that make it difficult to complete deliveries. If customers have a valid “XD” code ship to location, they can request their packages from vendors outside of BearBuy are sent to 616 Forbes Blvd, South San Francisco, CA 94080 with the “XD” code in the address line 2 or attention line. As long as the “XD” code is on the shipper label on the package UCSF Logistics receives, we’ll be able to process it for delivery to the proper end point destination. Again, “XD” ship to codes are only widely available on the Parnassus campus at this time but SCM is in process of expanding this program campus wide. Sending packages to Oyster Point for non-BearBuy deliveries without corresponding “XD” code information is strongly discouraged as it may require extensive research and may result in lost or misdelivered packages.

Long Range Development Plan (LRDP)

PDP is embedded in the UCSF Long Range Development Plan through the year 2035. PDP reduces the impact of additional delivery vehicles in the neighborhoods adjacent to UCSF. The reduction of truck traffic is a major commitment to our neighbors made by the UCSF Community and Government Relations Department.

Additionally, PDP aligns with the UCSF Office of Sustainability’s goal for the university to achieve decarbonization by 90% by the year 2045.
