As of January 5, 2025, New York City has implemented a "congestion fee" of $9 or more during peak hours for all vehicles entering local streets and avenues at or below 60th Street. This fee applies to cars, trucks, taxis, and rideshares, with charges varying based on the size of the vehicle, the day of the week, and the time of day. The fee will be part of the automated toll collection already in place for bridges and tunnels surrounding Manhattan. More information can be found on the Official Website of the City of New York. While the University of California maintains highly competitive contracts with Hertz, National, Enterprise, Dollar, and Thrifty, please note that taxes and fees, including this congestion fee, are not subject to reductions or waivers. We encourage travelers to carefully review all associated costs when renting vehicles.
The entry procedures for Europe and the United Kingdom (UK) have changed and travelers will need to be aware of three new systems.
