Anchor Institution Initiative Update – November 2021

Expanding Supplier Diversity Measures

The Anchor Institution Initiative procurement activities are growing across the UCSF community. We have been meeting with Chancellor's Cabinet members to conduct department spending analysis reviews and to identify purchasing categories that could be allocated to small, local and diverse businesses. The Chancellor’s Office and campus Project Management Office are working on True North measures that will include a goal of improving supplier diversity. To pursue the opportunities in shifting University spend, UCSF Health and campus supply chain teams will be partnering to support a work plan.

The procurement pillar of the Anchor Institution Initiative has been realized through community strategic partnerships, collaboration and advocacy groups with  internal and external stakeholders. As an Anchor Institution, UCSF is determined to leverage its resources and procurement opportunities to address health and economic equity in under-resourced, disadvantaged, and underrepresented communities. As a leading university dedicated to advancing health worldwide, we strive for excellence in all, including the way that we do business.

If you would like support in your effort to include diverse, small and local business in your purchasing or want to join the Anchors Away team, please contact Marliz Copado.
