Healthy Beverage Initiative – All of the Fun, None of the Sugar

'Tis the season for holiday gatherings and parties. As a reminder, UCSF has committed to health by eliminating the sale of sugary sweetened beverages through our Healthy Beverage Initiative. Sugar-sweetened beverages are not only the single largest source of added sugar in our diets but also the source with the strongest link to the leading chronic diseases in America: diabetes, heart disease, and dental caries. If you are planning a party this season, please ensure your festive events are mindful of our Healthy Beverage Initiative and serve zero-calorie beverages or non-sweetened drinks. Better yet, bring a water bottle and fill it up at one of the hydration stations. Here are three reasons and fourteen proof points to drink tap water
