On a Mission Toward Supplier Diversity

In an effort to guide leaders and decision makers about their work and to help ensure the program’s success, the Anchors Away Team, part of the UCSF Anchor Institution Initiative, has created a mission statement:

"UCSF’s Anchor Institution Initiative, in collaboration with Supply Chain Management (SCM), is aligning purchases of goods and services with a mission to sustain and advance our small, local and diverse communities in under-resourced populations to achieve economic equity.”

The team believes that the mission statement will act as a catalyst to engage our departments to allocate their procurement dollars to small, local and diverse businesses. The team plans to highlight business units who have demonstrated a 50 percent increase in diverse spend utilization within a fiscal year. And, by endorsing the new mission statement, these champions will help in the creation of a best-in-class supplier diversity and inclusion program.

Congratulations to the Anchors Away Team for all of their efforts and ideas! Our procurement initiative and mission toward supplier diversity could not be the same without each one of you.
